In December 2024, our communication partner, Alerce Environmental Communication, visited us in Vienna. In an inspiring workshop, we worked together on our communication goals for the year 2025. Three hours full of ideas, discussions and visions – with one common goal: to establish IRIS even more as a pioneering project for modern river management.

IRIS stands for sustainable and integrative river management. It stands for river landscapes worth living in, for the high ecological quality of our water bodies and for effective flood protection. How can we communicate these themes even more effectively? This question was the focus of the workshop.

In 2025, our activities will focus on communicating the pilot measures. However, we do not just want to talk about the construction processes or technical details. We also want to tell stories: Stories of animals that find new habitats, of plants that characterise river landscapes and of people who rediscover the beauty of river landscapes. With exciting stories, surprising insights and great tips for excursions, we want to bring IRIS to life and invite you to explore and experience our rivers for yourself.

We are looking forward to an eventful year full of exciting river moments.
